Many people still cling to\u00a0the notion that man is naturally good. We did not get this from the Greeks. Aristotle\u00a0said, \u201cThere is no good in mankind.\u201d We did not get it from Judaism. Jeremiah\u00a0said, \u201cThe heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked; who can know it?\u201d (Jeremiah 17:9).<\/p>\n

We did not get it from Christian teachings. The Apostle Paul said, \u201cAll have sinned, and come short of the glory of God\u201d (Romans 3:23). We got this illusion, I believe, from the philosophers and psychologists\u00a0of the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries who taught the false doctrine\u00a0that\u00a0man is a helpless victim of his environment.<\/p>\n

The Bible says that man is not naturally good. All human experience confirms it. Man is rebellious by nature. This first rebellion in history happened in the Garden of Eden, where the environment was perfect and\u00a0there was no\u00a0heredity\u00a0on which to blame it!<\/p>\n
