What if for Valentine\u2019s Day a husband bought a card and some roses and gave them to his wife? What if he told his wife he loved her and that she was the only one for him? Nice, right? Well, what if that same husband didn\u2019t do much else for his wife for most of the rest of the year? What if he only spent effort on his wife on occasions like her birthday or a special holiday? What if he expected constant adoration and blessing from his wife in return? And what if he looked at other women from time to time, or spent time with pornography, or imagined being with another woman, or acted upon those desires secretively? He\u2019s not so nice now, right?<\/p>\n

Now try this. What if on Sundays a person went to church and put some money in the offering plate? What if this person told God he or she loved him and that God was the only one for them? Nice, right? Well, what if that same person didn\u2019t do much else for God most the rest of the year? What if he or she only spent effort on God on special occasions like Christmas or tax season? What if she expected constant adoration and blessing from God? What if that same person looked at other objects from time to time, or spent time with other desires, or imagined being with another god, or acted upon those desires secretively?
