Now these are the gifts Christ gave to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers. Their responsibility is to equip God\u2019s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ.<\/p>\n

E P H E S I A N S 4 : 1 1 \u2013 1 2<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

People have assumed it is the pastor\u2019s job to visit a sick person in the hospital, to pray before a meal, or to do the Bible teaching for Wednesday Bible study. After all, it\u2019s what he was hired for, right? It is what we pay him to do. This is true to a degree, but just to a degree. Ultimately, the pastor\u2019s job is to shepherd people (pastor <\/i><\/em>means \u201cshepherd\u201d) to a closer relationship with<\/p>\n

Jesus so that Jesus can empower them to do good work. In other words, the pastor is not the only person who is supposed to be doing ministry. He is simply supposed to equip people to work for Jesus.<\/p>\n

The truth is that it is everyone\u2019s calling to do work. There is no shortage of good things to do in this earth, so God has called you to use your gifts to do work that builds others up. Walk in your gifting today, knowing you are making a difference in this world.<\/p>\n
