A busy life is often a stressed life. A life paced around prayer, however, is often filled with thankfulness and peace. On one hand, when people are hurried, they are worried about what might happen or what they might miss. When people are paced by prayer, on the other hand, they develop a growing sense of gratitude because they become increasingly aware of all Jesus is doing in them and around them.<\/p>\n

People are often tempted to think they don\u2019t have time for prayer. There is just too much going on, too many things to get done. But prayer forms an alert mind and cultivates a thankful heart. It provides wisdom for decisions, reassurance for apprehension, strength for trials, and unity with God\u2019s plans.<\/p>\n

This is one of the reasons Jesus prayed so much. He surprised people by how often he would withdraw from busy moments to spend time with the Father. At the height of his popularity, he would withdraw from the crowds and spend time in prayer. In the midst of his darkest moments, he would pray. When alone and tempted, he would pray. Before gathering with others, he would pray. His life was paced by prayer, not hectic activity.<\/p>\n
