It would be wrong to say that the first followers of Jesus\u2014you know, the ones who changed the entire course of human history\u2014had a great plan. They didn\u2019t sit around large conference-room tables with the best minds in the industry or the most brilliant political strategists checking popular opinion polls every few minutes.<\/p>\n

The truth is that they really didn\u2019t know what to do. Jesus had given them instructions after his resurrection to wait for him to send the Holy Spirit, who would empower them to be his witnesses to the ends of the earth. So they waited according to his word. They spent time praying. And they spent time going about their daily routines. They would gather together often and eat and talk about all they had seen Jesus do and all they had heard him say. And they waited. And then God showed up.<\/p>\n
