I am the true grapevine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch of mine that doesn\u2019t produce fruit, and he prunes the branches that do bear fruit so they will produce even more.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

A prune is a fruit. Or, it was a fruit. Actually, it is (or was?) a plum\u2014a plum which is preserved by being dried and becoming all dark and wrinkly. But to prune is also an act of cutting off parts of a plant that are dead, that aren\u2019t producing fruit, or even healthy aspects that the gardener believes will be better for the life of the plant in the long run. A gardener decides to remove a branch or bud so that the plant can flourish in times to come. Pruning something like a grapevine requires specialized attention so that it can become more abundantly fruitful. Jesus promises that those who want to follow God will go through the pruning process too. God wants his people to become fully what he intends. You can try to be a prune and fight against getting pruned or you<\/p>\n

can let Jesus prune away in your life so that you can produce more prunes. Or something like that. Jesus said it so much better when he was talking to his disciples.<\/p>\n
