THE SECRET IS SURRENDER<\/p>\n

Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness? Romans 6:16<\/i><\/em><\/p>\n

Of Eric Liddell, the missionary and great runner whose story is told in the film Chariots of Fire, someone has said, he was \u201c\u2026ridiculously humble in victory, utterly generous in defeat.\u201d That’s a good definition of what it means to be meek. Meekness involves yielding.<\/p>\n

The world \u201cyield\u2019 has two meanings. The first is negative, and the second is positive. It means \u201cto relinquish, to abandon\u201d; and also \u201cto give.\u201d This is in line with Jesus\u2019 words: \u201cHe that loseth [or abandoneth] his life\u2026shall find it\u201d (Matthew 10:39). What a description of Eric Liddell!<\/p>\n

We have heard the modern expression, \u201cDon\u2019t fight it-it\u2019s bigger than both of us.\u201d Those who submit to the will of God do not fight back at life. They learn the secret of surrender, of yielding to God. He then fights for us!<\/p>\n

The Bible says, \u201cFor as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity\u2026even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness\u201d (Romans 6:19).<\/p>\n

Instead of filling your mind with resentments, abusing your body by sinful diversion, and damaging your soul by willfulness, humbly give all over to God. Your conflicts will diminish, and your sinful tensions will often vanish.<\/p>\n

Then your life will begin to count for something. It will begin to yield, to produce, to bear fruit. You will have the feeling of belonging to life. Boredom will melt away, and you will become vibrant with hope and expectation. Because you are meekly yielded. You will begin to \u201cinherit the earth\u201d of good things which God holds in store for those who trust Him with their all.<\/p>\n
