We know that in everything God works for good with those who love him, who are called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28, RSV<\/i><\/b><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

The sick room can become a \u201cspiritual gymnasium\u201d where one\u2019s soul is exercised and developed. Sickness is one of the \u201call things\u201d\u00a0 which work together for good to those who love God. Don\u2019t resent it. Don\u2019t be embittered by it. You who are lying on hospital beds realize today that it is the love-stroke of a loving heavenly Father who loves you so much He will not pamper you but will bring all things for your ultimate good.<\/p>\n

Christ is the answer to sadness and discouragement<\/p>\n

This is a world of thwarted hopes, broken dreams, and frustrated desires. G. K. Chesterton said, \u201cEverywhere there is speed, noise, and confusion, but nowhere deep happiness and quiet hearts.\u201d<\/p>\n

But Christ can take the discouragement and despondency out of our lives. He can put a spring in one\u2019s step and give one a thrill in his heart and a purpose in his mind. Optimism and cheerfulness are products of knowing Christ.<\/p>\n

The Bible says, \u201cA merry heart doeth good like a medicine; but a broken spirit drieth the bones\u201d (Proverbs 17:22).<\/p>\n

If my heart has been attuned to my God through faith in Christ, then its overflow will be joyous optimism and good cheer.<\/p>\n

The joy of the Lord is my strength! Do you feel God\u2019s joy? It only comes when we spend time with Him.<\/p>\n
