Resentment or resignation are not the answer to the problem of suffering.And there is a step beyond mere acceptance.It is accepting with joy.We need to listen to the words of James:\u201cConsider it pure joy,my brothers,whenever you face trials of many kinds,because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance.Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete,not lacking anything\u201d(James <\/i><\/em>1:2-4,NIV).<\/p>\n

The Christian life is a joyful life.Christianity was never meant to be something to make people miserable.The ministry of Jesus Christ was one of joy.The Bible teaches that a life of inward rest and outward victory is a Christian\u2019s birthright.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat a witness to the world Christians would be,\u201dwrote Amy Carmichael,\u201cif only they were more evidently very happy people.\u201dJoy is one of the marks of a true believer.Miss Carmichael quotes Prebendary Webb-Peploe as having said,\u201cJoy is not gush:joy is not jolliness.Joy is simply perfect acquiescence in God\u2019s will,because the soul delights itself in God Himself.\u201d<\/p>\n

The ability to rejoice in any situation is a sign of spiritual maturity.<\/p>\n
