Awaiting our blessed hope,the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ.Titus 2:13,RSV<\/i><\/em><\/p>\n

The promised coming of the Lord has been the great hope of true believers down through the centuries.Emil Brunner once said,\u201cWhat oxygen is to the lungs,such is hope to the meaning of life.\u201dSome years ago in a discussion by satellite,Lord Montgomery asked General Eisenhower,\u201cCan you give any hope?\u201dMr.Eisenhower prescribed a way out,\u201cwhich if man misses,\u201dhe said,\u201cwould lead to Armageddon.\u201dWinston Churchill\u2019s favorite American song was,\u201cThe Battle Hymn of the Republic,\u201dwhich begins with the stirring phrase,\u201cMine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord.\u201d<\/p>\n

The great creeds of the church teach that Christ is coming back.The Nicene Creed states that\u201cHe shall come again with glory to judge both the living and the dead.\u201dCharlies Wesley wrote 7,000 hymns,and in 5,000 he mentioned the coming of Christ.When Queen Elizabeth II was crowned by the Archbishop of Canterbury,he laid the crown on her head with the sure pronouncement,\u201cI give thee,O sovereign lady,this crown to wear until He who reserves the right to wear it shall return.\u201d<\/p>\n

But till that time,one of American\u2019s best-known columnists\u00a0summed it up when he said,\u201cFor us all,the world is disorderly and dangerous;ungoverned,and apparently ungovernable.\u201dThe question arises:Who will restore order?Who can counter the danger of the nuclear holocaust?Who alone can govern the world?The only answer is Jesus Christ!<\/p>\n
