丰盛的生命

“盗贼来，无非要偷窃，杀害，毁坏；我来了，是要叫羊 得生命，并且得的更丰盛。”

约翰福音 10:10

在丹尼尔·韩德勒的系列丛书《雷蒙·斯尼奇的不幸历险》里面，一个名叫奥拉夫伯爵的恶毒角色收养了三个孤儿：他们是波特莱尔家族的维奥莱特、克劳斯和桑妮。奥拉夫伯爵把自己伪装成一个慈爱的叔叔。但是孩子们很快就意识到，他是一个诡计多端、谎话连篇、人格扭曲、无恶不作的大坏蛋。他的企图无非就是获得波特莱尔家族的财产。倘若不是看到孩子们的纯洁和勇气，他们令人心碎的故事也定会叫你黯然神伤。

可悲的是，这种“一系列不幸事件”在当今世界中比比皆是。圣经描述了这个世界的邪恶势力，在撒旦的驱使下，对上帝所爱的人所造成的严重破坏和毁灭。只要看一眼新闻网站，就会知道，邪恶与不幸似乎正在泛滥。然而，与侵害我们这个世界的邪恶势力相反，耶稣带给了我们保护与拯救。

今日祷告：

主耶稣，你是如此美善。让我在你的生命里得着满足与力量。让我保持纯全，坚定地反对各种形式的邪恶。奉主耶稣基督的圣名，阿们！

February 13 – Unfortunate Events

In the Lemony Snicket book series by Daniel Handler, a malevolent character named Count Olaf takes in three orphans—Violet, Klaus, and Sunny Baudelaire. In the process he disguises himself as a loving uncle, but it isn’t long before the children realize that Olaf is a conniving, lying, twisted, and murderous criminal who is mercilessly trying to get his hands on the Baudelaire fortune. If it wasn’t for the purity and determination of the children, their heartbreaking story would have been soul destroying as well.

Sadly, this “series of unfortunate events” is all too common in our world today. The Bible describes the presence of evil in this world, spurred on by Satan, to wreak havoc and destruction upon those whom God loves. One glance at a news site confirms that evil and unfortunate events seem to run rampant. And yet, in contrast to the evil that has invaded our world, Jesus rises to protect and to save.

Pray for the Day:

Lord Jesus, you are so good. Let me live in the satisfaction and power of your life. Let me be pure and determined to stand against evil, in all of its varied forms. Amen.
