温柔的心

“温柔的人有福了！因为他们必承受地土。”

马太福音5:5

如果有人有理由夸口，那只有耶稣。听了一些傻瓜因为征服了一个国家、建造一座场馆、发明一条水道就自吹自擂。耶稣本可以轻而易举就打断他们的夸夸其谈：“住嘴，白痴！你太无知了！你所征服的国家，都是我建立的；而你，把那些小小的建筑物称为“大竞技场”？我造的流星都比它们大。你所发明的水道有什么了不起？你可以把一点点水从一个地方调到另一个地方。那你听说过江河湖海吗？噢，你是否注意到你的心脏在如何跳动？是啊，都是因为我在保守你的生命。”

如果耶稣愿意，祂可以立刻让人类服服帖帖的。如果耶稣对人类的自高自大感到厌烦，祂吹口气就可以摧毁这些自我膨胀的傲慢。然而，祂却选择了服侍人类。祂倾听，祂拥抱，祂医治，祂救赎，祂珍惜。这都是因为祂希望人类与祂一起分享祂所创造的一切。

今日祷告：

耶稣，祢比我所认知的更加伟大。然而祢却把我的生命放在自己的生命之上。我谦卑跪下，却发现祢已经在服侍我。耶稣，谢谢祢。阿们。

January 31-Be Humble

“God blesses those who are humble,for they will inherit the whole earth.“

MATTHEW 5:5

If anyone ever had a reason to brag, it was Jesus. After listening to some simpleton humans boast about conquering nations or building coliseums or inventing aqueducts, Jesus could have interrupted their grandiosity with a snap of his fingers. “Be still, morons! You don’t know squat. Those nations you defeated—I made them. And you! You call those tiny buildings‘coliseums’? Ha! I made asteroids bigger than that. And what’s so great about an aqueduct? So you can move a little bit of water from one place to the other. Have you ever heard of rivers? Seas? How about oceans? Oh, and have you ever noticed how your heart is beating right now? Yep, that’s me. I sustain your life.”

If he wanted to, Jesus could have put humans in their place pretty quickly. If he was tired of conceited humans claiming to be the greatest, he could have snuffed out their puffed-up arrogance with one breath. But instead he serves.He listens. He embraces. He heals. He saves. He treasures. All because he wants people to share with him all that he has made.

Pray for the Day:

Jesus, you are greater than I realize, and yet you put my life ahead of your own. In humility, I fall to me knees and find that you already there serving me. Thank you, Jesus. Amen.
