温柔耶稣

然而主的仆人不可争竞，只要温温和和的待众人，善于教导，存心忍耐，用温柔劝戒那抵挡的人。

提摩太后书2:24-25

耶稣是个温柔的人。当祂来到这世界时，几乎没有慈善机构，医院或精神病院也很少，穷人的避难所、孤儿院、被遗弃者的收容所都很少。与今天相比，那是一个冷酷的世界。基督改变了这一切。如今只要有基督教的地方，基督徒都会表现出温柔和良善。

“温柔”这个词在我们的英文圣经中只出现过几次，它与三位一体的三个位格联系在一起。在诗篇18:35中，是说上帝的温柔；在哥林多后书10:1中，是说基督的温柔；加拉太书5:23中是说圣灵的温柔。

查尔斯·艾伦指出：“一个鄙视罪的人，可能会对罪人严苛无情……有些人似乎充满正义，却对那些软弱失败者毫无同情之心。”

某位不知名的诗人写下了这样意味深长的诗句：

只要真诚又柔和，

只要心里常喜乐。

只要良善又仁爱，

只要信靠如幼孩。

亲切和蔼又温柔，

乐于助人伸援手。

遭遇挫折不沮丧，

吟诗赞美驱哀伤。

无论黑暗或光明，

忠于上帝和正义，

相信上帝最了解，

安息在祂应许里，

生命之钥就是爱，

愿——

你我明白神旨意。

今日祷告：

天父，我们靠着耶稣来到祢面前，祂温柔谦卑，在我们与他人交往时，求祢也使我们温柔；奉耶稣的名，阿们。

GENTLE JESUS

And the Lord’s servant must not be quarrelsome but kindly to everyone,an apt teacher,forbearing,correcting his opponent with gentleness.2 Timothy 2:24-25,RSV

Jesus was a gentle person.When He came into the world,there were few institutions of mercy.There were few hospitals or mental institutions,few places of refuge for the poor,few homes for orphans,few havens for the forsaken.In comparison to today,it was a cruel world.Christ changed that.Wherever true Christianity has gone,His followers have performed acts of gentleness and kindness.

The word“gentleness”occurs only a few times in our English Bible.It is spoken of in connection with the three persons of the Trinity.In Psalm 18:35,it is the gentleness of God;in 2 Corinthians 10:1,the gentleness of Christ;and in Galatians 5:23,the gentleness of the Holy Spirit.

Charles Allen points out,“In one’s disdain of sin,one can be harsh and unkind toward a sinner…Some people seem to have such a passion for righteousness that they have no room left for compassion for those who have failed.”

From some unknown poet comes these meaningful lines:

Just to be tender,just to be true,Just to be glad the whole day through,Just to be merciful,just to be mild,Just to be trustful as a child:Just to be gentle and kind and sweet,Just to be helpful with willing feet,Just to be cheery when things go wrong,Just to drive sadness away with song,Whether the hour is dark or bright,Just to be loyal to God and right,Just to believe that God knows best,Just in His promise ever rest,Just to let love be our daily key,That is God’s will for you and me.

Father,we come to You through Jesus,who is gentle and lowly of Spirit,and we ask that you would make us to be gentle as we interact with other people;in Jesus’Name,Amen.
